The Methodist Union of Social Agencies has addressed the educational, economic, social, and spiritual needs of the people of the Mon and Steel Valleys, south of Pittsburgh, for more than 80 years. Once a booming steel-producing hub, the economy of the area collapsed as the mills shut down in the mid-1980s and the tax base decreased. The economic conditions have placed many residents and families at risk.

An evolving agency, MUSA seeks to help the people of its community, regardless of their religion or race. Its mission is to assess the need for, and to provide, human and social services to individuals and families; and to promote cooperation among organizations that meet basic needs and enhance the quality of life.
